This last thing is my favorite. If you've seen the background on the computer you would know why. The Jordan shoe brand is one of the most unique brands of all time. No other athlete or shoe company for that matter has been able to touch what Michael Jordan and his Nike team have built. I do love Jordans. But I don't love every Jordan. I only wear the 3's. They're the black shoes I wear pretty much every day. Here's a visual. And yes, that smell is Kanye molecules filling the air, again, on my blog.

Urban beauty at it's finest. The Jordan brand sponsors a few high schools across the country and one high school basketbal team just got extremely fresh.
That's elephant print letters and numbers. I'm not crazy about the typeface, but the texture and look of the elephant print takes me there.

One thing I really need to start working on is adding texture to my designs, so seeing a really awesome texture just makes me want to learn that much more. I agree that the typeface on the jerseys is not that great, but I do love that texture. And at least it isn't Comic Sans. WOOF.
Jordannnnnnnnnns. Yes! You win my favorite blog for the week. Nike in general is an awesome brand that never ceases to amaze me (sometimes in a bad way). I work at Journey's, and I've been there for more than four years. So, I've seen numerous Nike's come and go. One thing that Nike isn't ever scared to do is to mix colors, textures and materials. Right now, we have a pair in our store that literally looks like aluminum foil and is mixed with a rough teal. Another pair we have is BRIGHT red (kind of pink) and orange. The bright red is a raised texture that I don't even know how they made. But, point is, maybe we should't be afraid to experiment with these color mixtures and textures in design. Textures are something that you definitely haven't been afraid to use so far, so kudos to you!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh because I saw your first two photos on Pinterest a while ago. Also, at the bookstore, we carry things that look like the your mama jokes and they always attract a large crowd of people. I don't know if it's the graphic style or the humor, but they are wildly popular.

Thanks for the Yo Momma designer jokes, however, the format makes me think more about my grocery list which is designed with a similar look - minus the jokes, of course. My favorite is "so stupid she think Pantone is a shampoo."
